Bezdan (serbisch-kyrillisch Π‘Π΅Π·Π΄Π°Π½, ungarisch BezdΓ‘n, deutsch Besdan) ist eine Siedlung in Serbien mit 5.263 Einwohnern (VolkszΓ€hlung 2002). Der Ort gehΓΆrt administrativ zur Stadtgemeinde Sombor in der nordserbischen autonomen Provinz Vojvodina. Bezdan gehΓΆrt zu den Γ€lteren Siedlungen in der Vojvodina. Erstmals erwΓ€hnt wurde es 1305 als Battyan.

Geografie

Bezdan ist sechs Kilometer von der kroatischen und zehn von der ungarischen Grenze sowie 18 km von Sombor entfernt. Es liegt am linken Ufer der Donau, im Flachland, auf einer MeereshΓΆhe von 90 m. Der Ort wird hΓ€ufig auch als β€žWassersiedlungβ€œ bezeichnet, da er von vielen WasserlΓ€ufen, insbesondere dem Großen Batschka-Kanal und dessen SeitenkanΓ€len umgeben ist.

Besonders auffallend sind die bewaldeten FlΓ€chen (mehr als 10 %), die fΓΌr die Siedlungen in der Vojvodina nicht charakteristisch sind.
